The Color of Music!
Yep I think the Color of Music is Green and Purple!
Remember my Decoupage Piano??
Oh and it’s FEATURED over on The Graphics Fairy today!
Well I wanted the awesome vintage sheet music to stand out a little more…..so I painted the piano!!!
I gave it a coat of Annie Sloan’s Antibes Green.
LOVE this paint…no sanding or priming.
Just painting!
I then sanded a few areas for some light distressing.
love how the wood peeks through
Then I applied a coat of clear wax and a coat of dark wax
The dark wax slightly tones down the bright green
Beauty!
I painted the lamps purple so they POPPED! My home decor isn't usually this funky but what a great conversation piece this adds to my living room:-)

Toddlers DO the darnest things.......
I have been working in my craft room....painting the floor,
now the walls.....
BUT sometimes things just don't go as planned....
Really how could I be mad when he steps back and proudly states 'AMAZING!'
Then cautions me that the paint is still wet!
I guess he got tired of 'pretend' painting:)
I can't wait to show you all what I've been up to....
well as soon as I get the mess cleaned up...
now the walls.....

Decoupage Piano with Sheet Music
I found this piano on freecycle.org for FREE.
I was planning on painting it until I seen some awesome sheet music while browsing The Graphic Fairy's site.
Kinda boring…..
I spiced it up with the free downloadable sheet music.
I used:
- 50 sheets of vintage sheet music
- sponge brush
- scraper
- scissors
- and a mixture of half glue and half water
- Mod Podge
I printed out the music….
{this was a lot easier than dragging a toddler from thrift store to thrift store
in the hopes of finding of sheet music}
I used the
on the sheet music.
I then applied a thin layer of the glue/water mixture than pasted the sheet music. I used a flour separator to smooth out any air bubbles.
I pasted each sheet at different angles…..
I left some of the wood peeking through…
and here’s just the bottom done….
and here is the top done…..
After the piano was covered in all the places I wanted….
I applied 2 thin coats of Matte coat Mod Podge to seal it.
and there she is all DONE!
This project took about 4 hours.
Not bad for a completely FREE project!
{ Make sure you stop back by because I have since PAINTED the wood!}

From Shabby to Chic
I found this cute little table at the Good Will years ago for $20!
I thought it was about time I painted it!
I used Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint
Granite on the top
Old White on the base
Duck Egg on the drawers
No need to wax or sand….
just wipe down to remove dust….
AND you are ready to paint!
Per Annie Sloan’s book….I painted right over the hardware!
and there she is painted w/ 2 coats in less than 1/2 hr!
I used clear wax on the whole piece and dark wax in just a few areas
Ta Da!!

Helpful Tips I Learned on Pinterest!
Are you on Pinterest??
"Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes."I have a slight addiction....I LOVE being pinned!
I LOVE the inspiration!
I LOVE easily finding who and where I need to link back to when I use an idea!
I wanted to share 3 of the latest helpful tips I have used and that WORKED!
Did you know a Parmesan lid fits a mason jar perfectly?? I found this awesome product! The Aqueduck Faucet Extender!
It helps my boy wash his hands without making a hugh mess:-)
Did you know a wooden spoon will keep water from boiling over??
Yep it WORKED!
What have you pinned lately??
Movers will break things…..
Remember that Sunburst Mirror I made HERE
Well……..the movers broke it!!
This time around I added some reinforcement with a
metal ring I got at Hobby Lobby
I hot glued the 1st layer…..
Then a 2nd……
and finally a 3rd.
I never really liked the smaller mirror so
I replaced it with a slightly larger one.
I added some rosettes to cover the metal ring.
These match the rosettes I put on a lamp..
Oh I LIKE!
and there you have it good as new…or maybe even BETTER!
