I found 2 twin sleigh beds on Craigslist for $20 each!!
All they needed was a little TLC!
A couple of areas had some damage....so I just used some wood filler to fill in the scratched grooves
Let dry and sand smooth....
I first used a coat of Kilz2 primer....then 2 coats of Glidden's Delicious Red.This color will look PINK while painting but no worries...the color turns out Fabulous!!
I painted inside because it was like 100 degrees in the garage!
Right next to where I was painting was a decorative star candle holder just calling my name...so I traced it onto the bed frame....
and painted it with some of Annie Sloan's old white paint....
I thought the footboard needed some stars too....
So I took the small glass star out of my candle holder and traced
3 stars onto the foot board
again using the chalk paint..
I then used some of Annie Sloan's dark wax and waxed the
headboard, foot board and side rails...
Now doesn't this $20 bed frame look like a Pottery Barn piece
that cost $100's!
Makes you rethink throwing out that old piece of furniture....huh???
I plan to make a bench out of the other bed frame:-)
Check out all the places I party!
your new beds look fabulous...nothing like changing $40 into a million.

ReplyDeleteHi Michelle! Love this! Great find! I kind of wish my guys bunk beds had solid head & foot boards! I really want to paint them, but the boards are slats so it just seems like a big project I don't have time for! btw, I recently started a link party for kids decor items and would love for you to join. It's Tuesday's Nursery - for everything with kids decor and for any age. I hope you can make it!
