Sending a CARE Package

Have you THANKED a Soldier today???

I'm guilty!!! I go days maybe weeks and forget that I live in a country that is at War. My paper will post fallen soldiers from time to time and that is my reminder.

Last year, I quit my job as a Flight Attendant to stay home with my new baby. I started blogging and signing up for free stuff as a hobby. I sign up for FREE SAMPLES to try out new products and to donate to other causes.

I don't have the means to write out a BIG check to a chairity and as a busy mom I don't have the time to donate hours. So my way of giving back is for just a few mintues out of my day I sign up for free samples and start a care package.

My hubby was getting a little annoyed with all the baskets of free samples cluttering up the cabinets and countertops.
My 'Free Clutter'

So I decided to de-clutter by doing a little 'Spring' cleaning and at the same time THANK a Soldier.

When I was flying I would collect all the soaps and shampoo from hotels. We had a box in our crew room  to toss these items in, that would then be donated to shelters.

Well, why couldn't I send this stuff off to a Soldier serving overseas????

I don't know anyone serving so I posted a facebook status asking for an address to a Soldier serving overseas.

I thought, 'I'll send ONE box because I bet shipping is gonna be over $100 to send something overseas!' WRONG!!

The PRIORITY boxes, tape and labels are FREE! When you use the Large Flat Rate Box and ship to any APO/FPO/DPO then it's $2 less than the domestic rate. That makes it only $12.50 to send a package to a Soldier. Pick up a few the next  time you're at the post office....they're FREE!

If it fits, it ships! I got a lot of stuff in this box:)

I have a junk drawer full of unused forgotten items, a pantry of cans goods I will never eat, a few gift items given to me that I will never use, hotel soaps and shampoo and lots of free samples from my favorite site http://www.itsallfreeonline.com/.

FREE SAMPLES I signed up for

And I went to my local dollar store to add to the box. I filled a box for a Soldier at around $20 including the shipping cost. I am sending FOUR boxes out today!!!!

Items from the dollar store: gum, beef jerk, pop rocks, cards, chap stick. peanut brittle and chocolate covered almonds

You could skip the dollar store sign up with SWAGBUCKS earn a paypal gift card to cover the cost of shipping and send a care package for absolutely FREE!!

See sidebar about how swagbucks works....and  'SEARCH and EARN for a SOLDIER'!!!!

Wanta send a box yourself?

Here is a list of items needed and wanted and I quote a Soldier :

"We have been striped of every little thing that matters so anything you send is valuable. Thank you so very much!!!!"

  1. Canned goods
  2. Books
  3. Video Games
  4. Jerky
  5. Lip Balm
  6. Wet Naps
  7. Toiletries
  8. Sun Glasses
  9. Playing Cards
  10. Combs
  11. Mittens
  12. Blankets
  13. For a list of even more items click HERE

Please refer to this website for more info on Military Care Package Restrictions: http://www.operationmilitarypride.org/packages.html

You may no longer address a package to 'ANY SOLDIER' ! Mail must be addressed to an individual or job title such as "Commander", "Commanding Officer", etc.

For care packages, you will need to fill out a declaration form from the Post Office. On that form, you have the option to request the package be 'Treated as Abandoned' (box 10) if it cannot be delivered directly to the soldier. We suggest you request this option to avoid having your package returned if undelivered.

You will also have to itemize each item, so it's best to pick up this form first and fill out as you pack your box if you have several different items. Some like to send just one item like girl scout cookies or batteries or a few similar items to make this step a little easier.

See ya at the post office:)

Tweeting my way to Free Stuff

What am I....a Bird???? Why Tweet???

cute twitter icons

I held out for so long before I jumped on the Twitter Train.....

I'm way too lazy and busy to learn something new most days. Well, I found it to be very simple and an easy way to get updates about free stuff.

Dentyne sent me 2 free containers with 60 pieces of gum for my tweet!

I signed up at twitter.com and I 'follow' my favorite sites free samples , Swagbucks , friends and other blogs for updates.

I thought I had to have a phone with internet access, which I don't. And I didn't know why anyone would want to know when I was vacuuming or taking out the trash...LOL

Those are misconceptions, you don't need internet on your phone. I just go online if I want to do a status update. These days my status just consist of a phrase that might win me something or if I've written a new blog post to update those following me.

An example if my Free Samples site is having a giveaway...I would tweet @newfreesamples thank you for a chance to win a free car!!!!

If they actually had that giveaway...I would be entered and they would see my tweet because of the @.....

What I LOVE most about twitter is that there is a little phone icon that when turned on will send texts to my phone. It's way too time consuming to chase samples around the internet.....So by following my free samples site I get texts to my phone with the latest sample.

It's nice because if it's a good one, I'll go sign up before it's gone. Or I can choose to ingore it.

Sign up with the free samples link and follow them on twitter for these great samples. Some of these are also my Swagbucks rewards.

I love the opportunity to try a product out for free to see if I would like to buy and use it. For the items I don't use I donate or make a nice gift basket for friends.

I hope that kinda explains twitter and I hope you follow me so I can see your tweets........

How I SAVE and MAKE Money

Hello All

I've never written a blog but I've always admired the women that do...I never thought I had the time and I'm a TERRIBLE speller so bad that spell check can't even figure out what I'm trying to say and I always thought that that would just make me come across as stupid..LOL So with that said a warning to readers this blog is created without the use of an editor or hooked on phonics.

But here goes....let me introduce myself in case I do get a few folks reading this....I'm Michell I'll be 40 in April and I have an 18 and 16 year old daughters....I met a great man in Feb 08 married him 45 days later (that's not a typo) and now we have a beautiful 5 month old baby. I was a flight attendant for 10years. I recently quit to stay home with my son.

I wanted to feel like I'm contributing to the family so I started clipping coupons. It's so fun to go to the store and pay $109 for 2 weeks of groceries and SAVE $145. My goal is to be that lady that holds up the line with her coupons and buys $200 in groceries with a dime. LOL It's easy, I found a website that does everything for you, tells you what's on sale like Target, Walmart and other stores and what coupon to use to get it for free...VERY time saving

Also that web site post FREE SAMPLES everyday so you can sign up for the things you would use or wanta try....I now have to go to the mailbox with a bag to carry all my mail home everyday from the stuff I get....it's like CHRISTMAS at the mailbox

JUST A FEW OF MY FREE SAMPLES

Next I found SWAGBUCKS and I am in HEAVEN!!!!! Talk about FREE.....in the month I signed up I got a $25 amazon gift card that I bought my son a TAGGIE with, a starbucks card cause I'm WAY to cheap to buy that with my own money, a t shirt and purse....NO LIE!!!! All for little time and free I have pics on my facebook page, I'll put some on here soon. Also SWAGBUCKS has a fan page on facebook so you can get questions about it answered and chat with others about prizes..Trust me it's for real......Here is what my husband explained to me, cause I couldn't understand how that was possible giving so many FREE PRIZES away

MY WINNINGS FROM SWAGBUCKS (purse,t-shirt,$25amazonGC on computer)

Well it's a search and win web site.....you use it instead of google to search the web....like your baby's rash or a recipe for dinner and you WIN a "buck"....well search engine sites make MILLIONS a day for our searches and they sell what we are searching to companies...other ways to WIN a "buck" is trading in old phones and games or referring your friends or finding codes in fun hunts they have and also you can shop and earn.....like buying a crib at walmart but going thur their site and you earn 1 buck for every $5 you spend.....it's everything we do anyway but now you can get rewarded. It's just making a new habit for searching and shopping online.
You won't get rich..but all your "bucks" add up so fast..it's just a little something that helps out and it's so fun:) So sign up when you get a chance you won't regret it. http://www.swagbacks.com/refer/girlinair
