Go join the JUNE party going on right now at The DIY CLUB!
You can enter a project BIG or small:-)
Now I'd like to share more about our wonderful wall with you.....
First of all...I have been planning my son's room for over a year
and I haven't even started it yet!
This project was really just a spur of the moment thought
for a wall in front of his room....
I was looking for a place to put all my son's magnets and ask the hubby about a steel wall.....he said sure...then I ask him if he could make a ladder and before I knew it we were at Home Depot picking out the items!! .
This wall was a really easy inexpensive weekend project that can be done on any scale.....so please don't be intimated:-)
Felt Tree
Check out these ADORABLE felt items I got from MyFamilyTies on Etsy!
Oh I just LOVE them! So well made!
2 cute birds, an owl, squirrel and a few apples!
MyFamilyTies is out on vacation now to prepare for her second child...
but she still answers messages.
Please stop by her shop and check out all the wonderful items and great prices.
My son LOVES to 'pick' the apples!
His wall has a felt tree and a chalkboard tree
Dry Erase
My two fisted writer...
and eraser...
The board the rail is attached to is also painted with Dry Erase
and the clouds!
Magnetic Wall
I made a few magnets with magnetic buttons, a hot glue gun and some wooden items and clothes pins from the craft store.
We also have lots of numbers and letters!
We can add...
Spell....
and hang art work!
Chalkboard Wall
All the paint on the upper wall is made into chalkboard paintby adding non-sanded grout to the paint.
He can add cargo to the train car....
He can number or name his engine..
draw a hanging Monkey
If you want to avoid the chalk dust ....they now have some awesome chalk pens!
{I have a handy dust vac close by}
My son Rains is 21 months old
but I'm sure he will enjoy this wall for many years
Thanks again for all the wonderful comments and those of you that shared on facebook, twitter or featured me on your blog..
I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

I've seen this wall everywhere! Congratulations! It looks awesome! :)
The wall is so wonderful. So many fun things to do. Your little boy is ansolutely adorable. Looks like he is very busy with his new art wall.
Congrats on everything and I'm loving the felt tree!
Ok so as much as I love this wall, I have to know. Is he tempted to color on the walls around the house? That'd be my main concern, that he'd get the impression it was ok to color on walls. And my son does NOT need any more ideas....
Wow, what a fabuolus wall. I did not even know they made dry erase paint. What a fab idea. I love the many different qualities you have going on here. Well done! Congrats on winning....
Congratulations on all of the attention! I know that my Craft Gossip readers loved it!
This is the coolest room ever!! He is so stinkin cute!
this is all over blogland...you deserve all the features! (:
now fly on over and pick my kids up so they can play in there for hours!! ;)
Seeing all of the details makes me love this even more Michell! This is truly an incredible thing you have created and I think the best part about it is knowing that your sweet boy will have so many wonderful memories of playing there...and knowing how much his mama loved making it for him! :-)
Thanks for sharing more of this amazing project with us at Inspiration Friday this week!

LOVE it! I am actually getting ready to do galvi wainscotting in my son's room, but here is my dilemma: how do you keep the seams from cutting little fingers? I get the edging part, but what about all of the seams? Did you file them? Seal with caulking? I can't find any info about this topic! Any advice you have would be great! Thanks!
Totally worthy of the accoldaes! Congratulations, this is really a wonderful gift for your little ones!
If you like would like to link up, we'd love to have you at http://beneaththerowantree.blogspot.com/2011/06/playdate-link-party-everyone-welcome.html
What a great Playdate addition it would be!
Cheers,
Lori
we are in the middle of building a wall inspired by your wonderful work ~ Can you add a little detail as to how you embedded the rough edges of the steel into the wood? A big concern is curious fingers finding sharp edges. I am not sure how to frame the bumpy ridges -
