Diy~$7 Bookshelf

Are you LOVIN this as much as I am??
As seen on HGTV!
Who would've thunk you could make a bookshelf out of a
cement form and old shutters?
I watched an episode where they took a concrete form and hung the circles on the wall as shelves....I LOVED it!
I wanted to make one using the leftover shutters from my Headboard project.
I purchased a concrete form at Home Depot for around $7.
They have a selection of different heights and widths.
These are the 2 options I considered...but went with the stacked upright.
I cut 4 tubes the width of my shutters.
The inside has a very waxy coat so if you plan to paint you will need to sand.
I used a nylon brush sander.
I painted a few coats of white on the inside and black on the outside.

Ready to assemble with a few screws
Screw to the shutters and cut a piece of wood for a topper...
I was gonna to put some fancy crown molding around the top..
but I think at some point I might want to hang this on the wall horizontal.

I am entering this project over at the
DIY Club

Check out all the places I party!

What a brilliant idea! I have a concrete form in the garage that never got used for it's original project. I think I will use it to make a spot to hold my daughter's stuffed animals. Thanks for the great idea!

I love that! Such a great idea! And except for the sanding part it looks doable:)

Loving it! This is exactly what I needed. I've got a tree-shaped bookshelf in my mind's eye for the nursery I'm planning(the trunk would be shelves for holding books, etc). But I couldn't come up with exactly what I wanted for the "leaves". I kept thinking circles painted various colors of green would be really cute - but had no idea what to use for the circles, until I read your post. Thanks!

I am sooo impressed! I would've never thought to use a cement form in any project - let alone as shelves. But it looks fabulous! I love the colors you chose and the way you've displayed it in the space.

Thanks for linking to the party, Michell. I always enjoy seeing your creativity at work. ;)
