ABC's and 123's Paint Sample Mosaic

My priceless work of ART!

For those of you that don't know we are building a new house

So that means my son needs a NEW theme for his NEW room!
See his old room HERE

I have decided to make his new room BRIGHT and CHEERY
with a Sesame Street theme!!

These are the colors I have chosen to paint in his room when our house is ready....
BUT in the meantime.....
I decided to make a MASTER PIECE :-)

I got my inspiration from Jennifer @ Hope Studios
She has a GREAT adult version.
AND
by this awesome video on YOUTUBE......
They took over 3000 paint samples and made the Mona Lisa!!!!!!

Here's What I Used:

Paint Samples
Foam Numbers and Letters
Mod Podge~Matte Mat
Apple Red Paint
Spray Adhesive
Wafer Board 21x24
(This was scrap wood the hubby had lying around)
First I painted the edges of my board

I laid out my paint samples...I overlapped them to cover the paint name and numbers
see???
I sprayed a layer of adhesive and laid a row of samples then
again and again.....
Note: I should have measured an inch all around the edge but I was lazy so I got a tad bit off centered....but it's ART:-0
I painted around the outer seams just cause I like the look
Go over any areas that may be curling up and spray adhesive again for a flat smooth look
I was gonna use vinyl lettering but I'm so glad I found these foam
letters and numbers......spray adhesive letters and numbers
I'm LOVIN it!
Let the spray adhesive dry 1/2 hr
1st  coat of Mod Podge
I used 3 thick coats of Mod Podge (the whole bottle)
2nd coat
Wait 20-30 between each coat
After third coat wait 24hrs to dry
Ta da!!
There are so many foam shapes from flowers, hearts, animals to glitters stars......and all kinds of stock paper in the scrapbook/craft section of many stores
So pick some pretty colors, use your imagination and have fun!

I love this! I was actually looking at paint chips today (and thought, what could I do with these). Now I know!! I may need to go back and snag some!
Found you through I heard naptime. Love your site.

I had a Sesame Street combo party for my 2 and 4 year olds this year - so I'm partial to SS too :)

This might be the most clever idea I've seen in forever.

I totally love this.

And I want to adapt it to more of a modern type Paul Klee type work.

How do you manage to get all the paint chips? I think I would feel guilty.

Really, really neat!

Thank you for participating in Alphabe-Thursday's summer school. This is brilliant.

Make sure to link it at Holly's Tickled Pink.

A+
