Alphabet Canvas Art

Colorful Alphabet Art for my son’s room!
This was so simple and easy to make.
Very similar to my 1st Silhouette Project

You will need:

• Canvas
• Paint
• Vinyl letters

I used a 16x12 Canvas I purchased at Hobby Lobby for less than $5.

Amazon also has good deals on Canvases. 

16" X 20" Artist Stretched Canvas 6 Pack

This is a cotton canvas.
First I painted my canvas with some craft paint.
I used  my DecoArt paint that I won from The DIY Club

LOVE the bright colors.

After the paint dried I applied my vinyl letters.
If you don’t have a Silhouette to cut your own, you can purchase a
variety of fonts and sizes at Wal-mart, the dollar store and any craft store.
Before I had a Silhouette I got these from

I swapped with her over on Whoopdwhoop.
It’s a place for crafters to swap with other crafters.
and it’s FREE!! Pretty Cool Huh?
Alrighty….back to the tutorial

I just used a credit card to apply the vinyl to the canvas.
Normally I wouldn’t waste such GOOD vinyl on a project like this…
But it was FREE to me AND I am preparing for another TV segment
 and it’s all I had on hand.

Just press and peel!

Now it REALLY looks great just like this……
BUT it’s too Rastafarian for me and I wanted something a little more ‘cleaner’

So…..I painted over the whole thing with WHITE.
First I sealed my letters with some Mod Podge to prevent leakage.

I gave the whole canvas 3 coats of white craft paint.

After it dries you are ready to peel the letters off!

I used my craft knife to remove the letters.

See the wonderful colors peeking thru???!?!
I was even able to save these letters on some wax paper for future projects

I LOVE how this turned out!
This cost me less than $5 to make!

It’s absolutely PERFECT in my son’s alphabet room!
